Purpose
To recognize individual participating practices for excellence in the utilization of electronic health records (EHRs) to improve rates of cancer screenings and immunizations. The award demonstrates a participating practice’s commitment to excellence and serves as a continuing reminder of quality improvement.

Automatic Eligibility
ALL participating practices in Maryland and the District of Columbia, meeting the following criteria and requirements will receive the Excellence in Prevention through EHR Technology Award.

Criteria

The award will be presented semi-annually. The first award presentation was held in January 2010. Thereafter, awards will be presented in July 2010, January 2011, and July 2011.
To qualify, the participating practice must meet the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS’) stipulated Relative Improvement Rates (see table below) for each of the four (4) measures for two consecutive quarters.

Your Quality Improvement Consultant will meet with you to:
- Discuss the award criteria
- Review the four (4) quality measures and the Relative Improvement Rates
