Physical Restraints Learning Circles
DFMC is part of a network of Medicare Quality Improvement Organizations – one in each U.S. state and territory – committed to improving health quality at the community or local level. DFMC works with patients, providers and practitioners, and other interested stakeholders across organizational, cultural, and geographic boundaries to spread best healthcare processes and to facilitate rapid, large-scale change.
One strategy DFMC uses to drive change is to bring together local communities to problem solve, learn from one another, and created solutions to improve how care is delivered, called learning and action networks. Participants can harness the power of a 24/7 community to address common challenges, connect with peers for mentoring, and be among the first to know about improvement breakthroughs – and how they can replicate them in their own facility. Follow the efforts of six nursing home Learning Circes in Maryland that are sharing strategies to eliminate physical restraints in their facilities.
